Documents checklist
- Passport + valid visa/extension
- Residency certificate — from immigration office (~200 THB, same-day) or your embassy letter; NOT the rental contract alone

- Photocopies of everything (offices copy free if forgotten)
The process itself
- Go to your provincial Department of Land Transport (DLT) — morning arrival beats afternoon queues

- Motorcycle applicants also do a practical course loop; car applicants with existing home licenses often skip practical testing
